Recently, the SEMI China 2023 Intelligent Manufacturing Committee meeting was successfully concluded in Huzhou, Zhejiang.
The attendees not only included intelligent manufacturing software vendors, but also upstream and downstream enterprises such as equipment, packaging, and testing. Lu Lingzhi, Chairman and CEO of Shangyang Software, served as the host and delivered a welcoming speech.
Wang Ben, Director of Automation at Intel Semiconductor (Dalian) Co., Ltd., shared "Intel Optimizing Factory Performance with Digital Twin Technology". As a manufacturing enterprise itself, Intel is well aware of every step of the transformation process in the manufacturing industry. Intel IT is directly involved in the production and manufacturing environment, and the IT team responsible for manufacturing provides a range of technical service support from L1 (online customer service center), L2 (problem solving, software installation, system configuration) to L3 (system development). More proposed to optimize factory functions through digital twins, self-developed Intel ® The AFS software suite product roadmap will better serve different customers.
Cui Lin, R&D director of semiconductor industry of Beijing Jiyun Dingcheng Technology Co., Ltd., shared the Role of Interface A in the Software development process of device control. The Interface A standard mainly focuses on two main capabilities Device modeling: defined by SEMI E120125164 for device self description (or metadata) ② Data collection: defined by SEMI E132134. From the perspective of device control development, building a device interface A model is beneficial for testing control software and reproducing production issues, which makes it more convenient to solve problems in factories. Jiyun Technology is an outstanding industrial internet manufacturer in China, creating the NeuSeer industrial internet platform with data intelligence as its core. It targets the energy, oil and gas, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing industries, aiming to improve equipment reliability, optimize production processes, improve quality, and enhance production decision-making capabilities.
Gu Wenxin, senior project manager of SEMI, brought the "Sharing of the Status Quo and Trends of the Global Semiconductor industry". Gu Wenxin believes that the development of the Semiconductor industry has become the strategic layout of all countries in the world, and the development of social intelligence and new energy has spawned a huge demand for chips. Moore's law is becoming invalid, and the global economy is slowing down due to many uncertain factors, which is not conducive to the technological upgrading of the industry and the development of the electronic terminal market. Due to the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the automotive electronics market has maintained a good development trend. However, due to the weak demand for memory and Consumer electronics, which account for a large market share, the global semiconductor market is under pressure. Based on the confidence in the long-term development of the Semiconductor industry, global wafer manufacturers are still actively laying out capacity construction. China's Semiconductor industry is experiencing a golden period of rapid development, but there is still a huge gap between the industrial scale and the market scale.
Ju Long, Global Vice President and President of China at SEMI, thanked the attendees on the closing keynote. Regarding the current global semiconductor industry situation, Julong shared three ways forward for the industry. The first way is that the market is the king's way. The Semiconductor industry has entered a cyclical reversal from core shortage and capacity shortage in 2021 to destocking and price reduction in the second half of last year. But driven by various intelligent application innovations, global semiconductor long-term sales will continue to grow. China is the world's largest semiconductor market, and the Chinese market has brought huge opportunities to global enterprises, especially Chinese enterprises. How can we seize this opportunity? From a macro perspective, the Chinese market still needs to adhere to global openness, link with global industries, and mitigate and avoid the risks and impacts of decoupling. From a micro perspective, the development of enterprises requires market rules, customer needs, and product competitiveness as key elements of development. The second path, innovation is the right path. The importance of innovation for the development of semiconductor enterprises is self-evident. Although innovation is not omnipotent, it is impossible without innovation. I look forward to and call for continuous investment in innovation to ignite the core fire, create internationally competitive technology products and industrial chains, and strengthen advocacy and protection of intellectual property rights. Following this path, we will steadily move forward. The third path, talent is the upper path. High and new technology is the peak, and those who gain talent gain the world. Those who gain talent thrive in the industry and thrive in the enterprise. Talent is the most essential factor for the success of enterprises. At present, the industry is developing rapidly. Countries have intensively introduced support policies for the Semiconductor industry. Enterprises are aware of the problem of talent shortage while increasing investment. The future long-term opportunity of China's Semiconductor industry is talents. The government, universities and enterprises should work together and spare no effort to attract, cultivate and retain talents to ensure the innovation and sustainable development of the Semiconductor industry.
During the free discussion session of the meeting, the guests present presented many insights on the future trends of intelligent manufacturing, including: how to transform semiconductor experience into IT capabilities is currently a problem faced; in a people-oriented industry, intelligent manufacturing is an inevitable choice; intelligent manufacturing has a great positive impact on the promotion of the manufacturing industry; software/equipment/FABs in the industry need to work together Intelligent manufacturing is a massive system engineering that helps to enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises, and so on.
